ODESSA Alba Bevel Allred, age 91, passed away quietly in her sleep on April 4, 2014 in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Bald Hill, Oklahoma to Arbie and Maggie Smith. She has some Cherokee Indian heritage.|
She is preceded in death by her parents,Arbie and Maggie Smith,husband Barney Bevel and husband Willis Allred, Sisters Ruby Bateman and Margaret Beeson. Brothers Coy Smith, Wayne Smith, Dick Smith, and Glen Smith.
She is survived by her daughter Betty Carolyn Lovell and husband Jerry of Odessa. Son Dennis Bevel and wife Helga of Owassa, Ok.Sister Della Mae Parker and sister in law Edith Smith. Grandchildren, Kevin Lovell of Odessa, Kristi Reynolds and husband Bobby of Blum, Texas. Krystal Bruski and husband Brandon of Owasso, Ok. Her great grandchildren Abby Reynolds, Zac Lovell, Koen Bruski, Gannon Bruski and Xane Lovell and several nieces and nephews.
Alba was creative with sewing, cooking and loved holidays. Her favorites were Christmas and Thanksgiving. The first of April she always delighted in a small joke on her beloved Barney and daughter Betty Carolyn. We can still hear her laughter after saying, April Fool! Alba and her husband Barney came from Oklahoma to Notrees, Texas in 1952. Barney was employed by Texaco Oil Company. They moved to Odessa in 1969. She married Willis Allred in 1987.
She was always willing to help others in need. She attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, family is asking that donations be made to the cancer or Alzheimer's Society. A special thanks to Hospice and the nurses at Buena Vista Nursing Center for their special care of our mother for the past 5 years.
Visitation is from 3-5 on Sunday April 6, 2014. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday April 7, 2014 with Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating.
