ODESSA Doris June Beasley McAllister, 89, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born June 19, 1925, in Fairfield, IL, to Brose Lymon & Mabel Glenn (Coulson) Medler. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1944. She came to Odessa in 1945 and met & married JH (Biil) Beasley on Oct 7, 1946, during the first Oil Boom. She and he were longtime members of the Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ since 1956. They raised their family of 5 girls, Billie, Linda, Becky, Bobbie & Debra. Upon her arrival in Odessa, she first worked as a waitress at the White Kitchen Café, in the 60's at Henderson Collins Drug behind the makeup counter, 70's at Odessa College in the SUB and Bookstore. Her last job was at Region 18 Educational Service Center, where she retired as media clerk in 1987. She married Melvin (Mr. Mac) McAllister in Nov. 27, 1990. He preceded her in death in May 30, 2008.
She is preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, J.H. "Bill" Beasley; 2nd husband, Melvin Dall McAllister; (3) brothers, Guy, Donald & Richard Medler; (3) sisters, Geraldine Clodfelter, Marjorie Medler & Madeline Worley. She is survived by her daughters, Billie Joyce Cochran & husband Larry of Gilmer, TX, Linda Jo Harrison & husband Randy of Odessa, Rebecca Dianne McElroy & husband John of Humble, TX, Bobbie Denise Warren & husband Barry of Paris, TX, and Debra Kay Halbert & husband David of Odessa; (10) grandchildren, Tammy Briggs & husband Tim, Carol York & husband Robert, Shelbi Burton & husband Chris, Coby Harrison & wife Kristi, Amanda Bloom & husband Evan, Tyrel Warren, Myra Rodgers & husband Kevin, Matthew Halbert & wife Brittany, Allison Sessions and Brittain Sager & husband Brian; (13) great-grandchildren, Phillip, Crystal, Whitney Cochran, Noah Harrison, Grace & Faith Burton, Daphne Sessions, Anna & Luke Warren & Sydney Bloom; (2) great-great-grandchildren, Aleck & Sidney Cochran; and numerous nieces, nephews & extended family.
Pallbearers will be: Coby Harrison, Noah Harrison, Matthew Halbert, Tyrel Warren, Chris Burton, & Kevin Rodgers. Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Tammy Briggs, Carol Cochran, Shelbi Burton, Amanda Bloom, Myra Rodger, Allison Sessions & Brittain Sager
A visitation with friends & family will be held 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, July 18, 2014, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 6th and Jackson Church of Christ with Robert Parham officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
