1989 - 2007 Obituary Condolences
ODESSA Joseph P. Salazar, 18, a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend to many of Odessa, Texas, went to be with our Lord on October 8, 2007.

Joseph was born on October 8, 1989, in Odessa, TX. Son of David Salazar Sr. and the late Martha Ann Salazar. Joseph was a current member of the OHS cross-country team. He was also an athletic trainer since his time at Bowie Junior High. He was also a member of the Bowie Junior High Band.

Joseph Salazar's friendly outgoing personality touched all who knew him and met. His smile could light up anyone's day. He loved life and lived each and every day to the fullest. Joseph's strong dedication to academics, athletics, hobbies and family enabled him to persevere. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. Instilled in him by his father and mother. Joseph would always look forward to weekend camping trips with his family. He will always be remembered and missed.

Survivors include father, David Salazar Sr., brother, David Salazar Jr., grandparents, Martin and Minerva Salazar and Robert and Rosenda Marrufo; and aunts and uncles, Dina Petty, Sylvia Garcia, Marty Salazar, Albert Salazar, Javier Marrufo, Arnie Marrufo, Hector Marrufo, Veronica Villanueva, Lupe Valeriano, Mark Marrufo, Anna Salcido and Emilio Marrufo.

A rosary was said at 7:00 p.m. October 11, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, October 12, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Ector County Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert Salazar, Marty Salazar, Javier Marrufo, Emilio Marrufo, Matt Ruiz, Lorenzo Valeriano, Lynnwood Bowers and Nathanial Petty.

Services are entrusted to Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
