Rayford Leve "Rusty" Ball Jr. Obituary
ALPINE Rayford "Rusty" Leve Ball Jr. passed away April 25, 2012 in El Paso, TX. Rusty a resident of Alpine, TX, was born in Lubbock, TX on November 8, 1944 to Francis Blaydes Ball and Rayford Leve Ball Sr. He was a professor of Physics and Astronomy at Sul Ross State University. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Bynum Ball; his children, Andrea Danley and her husband Brooks and Travis Ball and his wife Krecia; his grandchildren, Mayce Ball, Zane Ball, Brett Ball, Chloe Danley and Reese Danley and his siblings, Tom Ball and Linda Carol Ball. Rusty treasured spending time with his family. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life with a visitation at First Baptist Church Alpine from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 10:00a.m. at First Baptist Church Alpine on April 30, 2012. A graveside service will be held at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, TX at 2:30p.m. on the same day. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his name to McDonald Observatory. Rusty was a big supporter of their work and would take delight in helping further their research and aid in astronomy education. Donations can be sent to University of Texas at Austin, McDonald Observatory, Attn. Tom Barnes, 82 Mt. Locke Rd, McDonald Observatory, TX, 79734. The observatory requests that donations specify, "Observatory Donation in Dr. Ball's Name" on the memo line or in an enclosed letter.
