Mary Jane (McAnally) O’Hern Obituary
DALLAS Mary Jane McAnally O'Hern of Richardson, Texas, passed away on her 92nd birthday, Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital after a short illness.

She was born on October 27, 1921, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to her parents, James Bennett McAnally and Lena Evans McAnally.

She graduated from The Holland Hall School in Tulsa in 1939 and The University of Oklahoma in 1943 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and French. She married John Larkin O'Hern in Tulsa on June 28, 1947. They had 3 children. In addition, she earned a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1984, at the age of 63. She was a former resident of Odessa, Texas, for 54 years. In Odessa, she was a member and Past President of the Junior League, the Symphony Guild, the Broadway Theatre League and the Crystal Ball Foundation. She was employed by The Permian Basin Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse as a Counselor for 17 years. Janie was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas. She enjoyed reading, tennis, traveling and her family. Janie will be remembered by her children, John L. O'Hern of Houston and Michael E. O'Hern of Garland.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily E. O'Hern of Houston and Erin E. O'Hern of Sugar Land.

She was predeceased by her husband, John L. O'Hern, and her son, James B. O'Hern.

She will be missed.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Episcopal Church of Transfiguration. Burial will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Janie's favorite charity, The John Stallings Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lake Highlands High School, 9449 Church Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
