WHITNEY James L. Cupp age 79, of Whitney passed away on November 30, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Officiating will be the Rev. Fred Parker , burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 4:00- 6:00 PM. at the funeral home.
James was born on February 24, 1934 in Colorado City, Texas to Barney and Rosa ( Kelley ) Cupp.
James married Vera Long on May 14, 1952, in Colorado City. He served in the National Guard prior to serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. James loved the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid animal lover and Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed building all types of things and above all he had an unconditional love for his family. James was a member of the United Pentecostal Church and the Whitney V.F.W. Post and the Disabled American Veterans.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and sisters; Doris Mize, and Patsy McCarty.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Cupp children; Rhonda Gary and husband Kevin, of Odessa, Terri Ross and husband Robert, of Whitney, sister; Elaine Lawler, five grandchildren; James Lollar and wife Maggie, Brandie Patterson, Chelsye Gary, Brittanie Meador, all of Odessa, and Natalie Lewis and husband Joseph of Whitney, ten great-grandchildren; Hunter, Paige, Jyrian, Jayden, Brooklynn, Jaimee, Jimmy, Sullivan, Brooke, and Logan.
