Donald Ray Collier Obituary
DENVER CITY Funeral services for Donald Ray Collier, 71, of Denver City will be conducted Monday, March 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Denver City Church of Christ with Brother Skip Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow at the Denver City Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Donald Collier passed away March 7, 2014 at the home of his daughter. He was a member of the Denver City Church of Christ. He was born September 21, 1942 to Ramon F. and Alene Collier in Roscoe, Texas.
Through out his life he lived in a number of places in Texas for most part Midland and Denver City. He served 10 years in the Army National Guard. He retired from FloCo2 in 2004. After his retirement he worked as a school bus driver for Denver City ISD and part time for the City of Denver City. Don had a deep love for the Denver City Mighty Mustangs and Fillies sports program. Watching his grandkids and "adopted" grandkids participate in their sports was the highlight of his life. He drove many miles to watch them play, and rarely missed a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred Collier, three brother-in-laws Randy Smith, Rick Wood and Donald Kitchens, two nephews Greg Kitchens and Sean Smith.
Don is survived by his two beautiful daughters Angel Maxwell and her husband Cody of Denver City, Holly Evans and her husband Mike of Midland. He was a full time Grandad to his four grandsons, Luke, Tate, Jaxon Maxwell and Preston Evans and his two granddaughters Mallory Maxwell and Ariel Evans, and his many local kids that knew him as Grandad. Two sisters, Alma Kitchens and Kathy Smith of Odessa, one sister-in-law Paula Collier of Anson. And many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
