Anthony J. "Sonny" Luisi, 76, of Canonsburg, died Friday, May 2, 2014, in Canonsburg Hospital.He was born January 7, 1938, in Canonsburg, a son of Michael and Evelyn DePalma Luisi.Mr. Luisi was a member of St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg.After graduating from Canonsburg High School in 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy
and served his country until retiring in 1974. He then was hired and advanced to chief, ATC Division, Barton Air Traffic Control Inc., for 13 years.He had his real estate license in Washington County and sold life insurance for Baltimore Life Co. Later, he drove a school bus for Canon-McMillan School District for 15 years.Mr. Luisi was a member of BPOE
Lodge 846, American Legion Post 902, Knights of Columbus Council 3291, Fleet Reserve Association, a life member of U.S. Navy GCA Association and International Association of Turtles Inc.On November 20, 1957, he married Joyce A. Zampan Luisi, who died September 29, 2003.Surviving are sons Michael Luisi of Washington, David Luisi of Tuscan, Ariz., Gary Luisi and wife Jessica of Washington and Joe Luisi and wife Audra of Meadow Lands; brother Lawrence Luisi and wife Lee of Houston; two sisters, Vera Albanese and husband Joe of Cape Coral, Fla., and Concetta "Connie" Bielick of Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jaimie, Joey, Shayne, Kelly, Julia and Mia; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, is a son, Jamie Luisi.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where departing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg.
