Robert W. Pirt Sr.

Robert W. "Bill" Pirt Sr., 70, of Vestaburg, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.He was born January 5, 1944, in Canonsburg, a son of the late J. George and Rosella Smith Pirt.Mr. Pirt was a 1964 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School.He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. For his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Marksman M-14.For many years, Mr. Pirt was a manager of Murdock Development Inc., in Akron, Ohio. He also worked for Republic Steel and Akron Standard.He was a loving husband and father who was very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country.Mr. Pirt was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golfing, bowling and baseball.He was a member of Binnstown-Lowhill Lions Club for 25 years.On May 23, 1964, he married Virginia Summerson Pirt, who survives.Surviving, in addition to his wife, are six children, Robert W. Pirt Jr., John G. Pirt (Mary) and Christopher Pirt (Veronica), all of Vestaburg, Bobbette Neidert (Jim) of Edinburg, Ohio, Armeda Byers (Rob) of Akron and Bastian Pirt of Vestaburg; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John "Jack" Pirt and Walker Pirt, both of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a grandson, Stephen Byers; two sisters, Loretta Henderson and Rose Kandar; and a brother, George Pirt.Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown.
