Victor V. Brova

Victor V. Brova, 85, of Scenery Hill, died Friday, June 6, 2014, in Washington Hospital.He was born November 13, 1928, in Cokeburg, a son of the late Frank and Catherine Suppo Brova.Mr. Brova was a 1946 graduate of Ellsworth High School.A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal.In 1992, he retired from Bethlehem Mines Corp. Mine 60, with 45 years of service as an underground miner.Mr. Brova was an avid golfer, and he especially enjoyed restoring classic automobiles with his son. His 1977 Lil Reo Express truck was one of his favorites. He was an accomplished mason and bricklayer. His skills allowed him to build his own home as well as the home of his son. Making wine and gardening were also his hobbies. Mr. Brova was well-known for his homemade spaghetti sauce.Mr. Brova was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 1197 in Bentleyville, American Legion Post 165, Cokeburg Moose 109, Sons of Italy 609 in Cokeburg and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927 in Washington.On September 11, 1951, he married Joyce Bedro, who survives. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Jaqueline Brova of Bethlehem and Rebecca Crumrine (Clark) of Wheeling, W.Va.; a brother, Lou Brova of Scenery Hill; a sister, Rita Adamsky of Eatontown, N.J.; four grandchildren, Matthew Crumrine, Natalie Brova, Vincent Crumrine and Gabriella Brova-Selvoski; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Brova of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, Victor J. "Buddy" Brova, and four brothers, Frank Jr., Joe, Gabriel "Dino" and Michael Brova.Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m., the hour of a brief funeral service, Tuesday, June 10, in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville.
