Margaret J. "Peg" Armstrong, 93, of Claysville, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, after being ill since February.She was born May 27, 1920, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert Wilhelm and Mabel Angela Spindler Schan.Mrs. Armstrong was a resident of Claysville since 1947.She was a 1938 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1960 graduate of the former Irene's Beauty Academy in Washington.Mrs. Armstrong was a former member of Claysville Civic Council, a former volunteer with the McGuffey High School athletic department and an active volunteer with Claysville community picnic and fair.She was formerly employed by several Washington department stores as a window dresser. She was the owner and operator of the former Peg's Beauty Shoppe in Claysville from 1960 until its closing in 1992.In November 1947, she married William Ellsworth Armstrong, who died in 1978.Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Mink) Bellotti of Florida; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a brother, William A. Schan.Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, May 22, in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville.
