Thomas McWilliams Obituary

Thomas E. "Mole" McWilliams, 65, of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, in Mon Valley Hospital.
He was born October 8, 1950, in Canonsburg, a son of William Earl and Annetta Hazlett McWilliams.
Mr. McWilliams was a 1968 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. He graduated in 1972 from Duquesne University with his bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1974, he received his degree in education from California State College, where he later obtained his master's of education.
In 2002, Mr. McWilliams retired from Canon-McMillan School District, where he had been an elementary teacher for more than 30 years.
He was a 52 year member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon and elder.
Mr. McWilliams officiated wrestling for more than 20 years, coached baseball at Little League, PONY and American Legion levels, and coached softball for Keystone Games and for 15 years was a Canon-McMillan varsity coach.
He was a liver transplant recipient 15 years ago and was an active Transplant Games participant for several years.
He was a member of Houston Independent Club and Ellsworth Sportsman Association.
On December 2, 1978, he married Rae Lynn McQuay, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, William C. McWilliams (Kathleen) of Canonsburg; a daughter, Cayce McWilliams of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Molly, Grace, Madison and Isla McWilliams and Melaynie Rubis; a brother, Kenneth McWilliams (Sandy) of Canonsburg; his aunt and legal guardian, Marie McWilliams of Canonsburg; two nieces, Joslyn Bilitski (Barry) and Whitney Solvay (John); and a great nephew, Reid Bilitski.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, May 28, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, with the Rev. Don Coleman officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to Center for Organ Recovery and Education, 204 Sigma Drive, RIDC Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.

Mr. Mac was one of my 4th grade teachers at Borland Manor many years ago. He was a great guy and a good friend to my uncle Dominic Lucciola. I thought about him often and will certainly miss him to pieces. RIP Mr. Mac and I hope you and my uncle have fun together.
