Walter Robert "Lad" Slaska, 82, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.He was born May 22, 1931, in Hendersonville, a son of the late Charles Slaska and the late Sophia Srednicka.Mr. Slaska served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He was a former member of Cecil American Legion and Cuddy Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Democratic committeeman for Cecil Township for many years. He enjoyed doing handyman work and cutting his grass.He worked in the mill yard for Universal Cyclops, Bridgeville.Surviving is a son, John Slaska (and his companion, Sherran Beatty) of Hendersonville.Deceased are his wife, Josephine Slaska; a son, Walter Slaska; two brothers, Edward and John Slaska; and three sisters, Nellie Slaska, Stella Kowalski and Jennie Lesjak.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Route 50), Cecil, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, with Pastor Doug Reinard officiating.Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg, where full military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 191 Honor Guard.
