Gaylord "Jake" Ross, 67, of Houston, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.He was born August 16, 1946, in Washington, a son of the late Gaylord J. and Betty Nay Ullom Ross.Mr. Ross was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School. He attended Duquesne University and Washington School of Drafting.He was employed by Merkle Engineers and Frazier Simplex, from where he retired.Mr. Ross was a member of Friendship Community Church in Washington, where he was active as an elder, Sunday school teacher and orchestra and choir director.He was an avid motorcyclist and golfer, and he also loved music.On January 25, 1969, in Washington, he married Pamela McClenathan, who survives.Also surviving are a son, Michael D. (Jodi M.) Ross of Washington, and a sister, Darlene (Harold) Miller of Clifton Park, N.Y.Deceased is a sister, Betty Lou Worstell.Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, June 7, in Friendship Community Church, 1090 Weirich Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery's mausoleum.Memorial contributions may be directed to Friendship Community Church.Condolences may be expressed and photos uploaded to www.familyremembers.com.
