Wayne S. Hallam, 85, of Washington, died Friday, June 6, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his family.He was born August 6, 1928, in Washington, a son of Cleon S. and Mabel Armstrong Hallam.Mr. Hallam was a graduate of Trinity High School.He retired from Washington Steel in 1991, but was a lifetime farmer. In his youth, he was a big band singer. His love for big band music stayed with him throughout his life. He also enjoyed baseball and the lottery, and was a frequent visitor to both Isaly's and The Dog House.Mr. Hallam was a member of both Laboratory Presbyterian Church and North Buffalo Presbyterian Church.On March 9, 1957, in Washington, he married Virginia Dunfee, who died March 24, 2000.Surviving are two daughters, Deborah (Robert) Hallam Leivengood and Donna (Donald) Hallam Hartzell, both of Washington; a sister, Elsie Todd of Chicago; two grandchildren, Sky (Trisha) DeSensi and Patience A. Hartzell; a great-granddaughter, Ariah Vicheck DeSensi; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased are two brothers, John and Arthur Hallam; a sister, Lois Ann Hallam; and two sons, James Sheridan Hallam and Wayne Markley Hallam.Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10.
