Margaret Zilich, 84, of Weirton, W.Va., passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 in the UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.She was born November 21, 1929, in Penowa, a daughter of the late Mike Korpos and Anna Petrosky Korpos Opalenek.Also deceased are her husband Anton J. Zilich; her 18-month-old son, Joseph Zilich; brothers Charles, Frank, Mike and John Korpus and George Opalenek; and sisters Mary Bonanza, Elizabeth Perloski, Julie Gevenosky and Erma Zick.Mrs. Zilich was a homemaker, who was always willing to help others in need. She enjoyed gardening in her yard, baking, canning and making jelly, but she will always be remembered for her famous mouth-watering apple pies.She was a member of SNPJ Lodge and Jefferson County Historical Society.Surviving are sons Anton (Sharon) Zilich of Norwalk, Conn., John (Sandy Kay) Zilich of Minnetonka, Minn., and St. Petersburg, Fla., Mark (Tammie) Zilich of Weirton and Robert (Beverly) Zilich of New Cumberland, W.Va.; sister Helen Peterson of Avella; and three granddaughters, Emily, Clare and Leah Zilich.Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, with the Rev.
