Earnest Matthews Jr., 86, of Canonsburg, died Monday, June 23, 2014, in Golden Living Center, Canonsburg.
He was born July 20, 1927, in Alberta, Ala., a son of the Rev. Earnest Sr. and Lily Tate Matthews.
Mr. Matthews was a retired truck driver for the former Mac Plastics of Canonsburg. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are four daughters, Blanche McClain (James) and Michelle Matthews, both of Canonsburg, Pamela Matthews of Orlando, Fla., and Amanda Matthews of Chicago, Ill.; six sons, Donald Matthews and Dennis Matthews (Sherri), both of Canonsburg, Charles Matthews of Washington, Thomas Matthews of Gill, Mass., Mack Matthews of Dallas, Texas, and John Matthews of State College; 31 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are his wife, Thomasina Lowe Matthews; two daughters, Carol and Connie Matthews; and a son, Michael Matthews.
At the request of the deceased, all services are private.
