David E. Goettel, 67, of Eighty Four, Nottingham Township, died Friday, July 4, 2014, in his home.

He was born February 20, 1947, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Elmer and Viola Goettel.
Mr. Goettel was retired as a maintenance supervisor at Bethel Park School District.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Bianchi Goettel; two daughters, Susan Foster and husband Damian of New Eagle and Karen Kolessar and partner Dennis Lopata of Monongahela; a half brother, Elmer "Sonny" Goettel of Carrick; and four grandchildren, Josh, Tiffany, Fox Anne and Hunter.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, in St. Francis Church, Finleyville, with the Rev. Richard Tusky, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. Full military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
