Gary C. Young, 76, of Houston, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, with his family and friends by his side.

He was born February 2, 1938, in Houston, a son of Donald Young and Lillian Mathot Young Curtis.
Mr. Young was a 1956 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and a 1961 graduate of Waynesburg College.
He worked for IC Patsch and Sons, Houston, taught school in South Fayette and Trinity school districts and retired as a senior partner for Synergetics Consulting, Boston, Mass., after 30 years of service.
Mr. Young was a member of First United Methodist Church, Houston.
He was a 50-year member of Chartiers Lodge 297, Free and Accepted Masons, Canonsburg, and a longtime member of The Golf Club of Washington.
Mr. Young was an avid golfer, who loved traveling and yard work.
On July 30, 1960, he married Janice Rudge, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Marcy Young of Uniontown; three grandchildren, Robert, Devin and Brandi Walker; two aunts, Jewel Langley and Joyce Mathot, both of Houston; and many cousins and close friends.
Deceased are an uncle, Glenn "Bud" Mathot, and his stepfather, Michael Curtis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, with the Rev. Thomas Chacko officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
