Alex Veydt, 95, of Cecil, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
He was born August 6, 1918, in Cecil, a son of the late Louis and Marie Piron Veydt.
On October 18, 1941, he married Florence Green Veydt, who died in 2002.
Mr. Veydt was a lifelong member of Cecil Alliance Church and a retired employee of Universal Cyclops in Bridgeville.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of Cecil American Legion.
Surviving are four children, Neil (Sharrol) Veydt of Spring Arbor, Mich., and Linda (Geary) Leasure, Connie (Dale) Armitage and Mark (Pam) Veydt, all of Cecil; nine grandchildren, Lance (Becky) Veydt, Karen (Terry) French, Lynne (Bryan) Beebe, Jennifer (Michael) Slack, G. Michael Leasure, Jill (Jason) Kowalski and Lauren, Steven and Kelsey Veydt; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a grandson, David Armitage (his wife Lauren, survives); four brothers, Paul, Jack, Louie and John Veydt; and four sisters, Harriet Strimel, Victoria Aubrey, Marie Calvey and Elaine Zakareckis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, 412-221-3333. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, in Cecil Alliance Church, with the Rev. Eric McAdams officiating. Guests are asked to please meet at the church. Interment with military honors to follow in Venice Cemetery, Cecil.
