Sophie Oswald, 94, of California, died Sunday, August 3, 2014.

She was born Friday, October 10, 1919, in Allison, a daughter of the late Alex and Sophie Durda Glemza.
Mrs. Oswald was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in California, where she belonged to Christian Mothers Group.
She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to clean and shop, but her No. 1 priority and joy was her family.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Joseph Oswald; three brothers, Michael, Peter and Anthony Glemza; a sister, Stella Solak; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Rhea Herron.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Joann and Ron Malmgren of Washington, Joseph and Karen Oswald of Windsor and Jeanne and Dennis Faieta of California; brothers Frank Glenzu and wife Virginia of Belle, Calif., and Nick Glemza and wife Isabelle of Coxs Creek, Ky.; five grandchildren, Joel Oswald and wife Dawn, Paul Oswald and wife Sara, Julie Sulkowski and husband Don, Allison Herron and husband Doug and Kristine Yeater and husband Yancy; six great-grandchildren, Corinne and Christian Oswald, Kaitlyn and Evan Oswald and Alex Herron and Benjamin Sulkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until 10:30 a.m., the time of prayers of translation, Wednesday, August 6, in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, California, with Father Michael Zavage, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center.
