Richard L. "Itsy" Woodburn, 65, of Avella, died at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Washington Hospital.He was born August 15, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late William and Dorothy Mull Woodburn.Mr. Woodburn was a 1966 graduate of Avella High School and served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Vietnam War.He was a lifelong resident of Avella and was a member of Raccoon Valley Sportsmen's Club.On December 23, 1967 he married Beatrice S. "Bimbi" Poplava, who died March 22, 2011.Surviving are six grandchildren, Aerial, Moriah and Daniel Woodburn, Zachary and Kaileigh Angney and Wyatt Shockley; two brothers, Russell "Hop" Woodburn of Avella and Fredrick (Anna) Woodburn of Hickory; and a sister, Doris (Wayne) Peterson of Carmichaels.Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are a son, Richard Scott Woodburn; a daughter, Valarie Jean Angney; and two brothers, William "Jiggs" and Roland "Woody" Woodburn.Friends and family will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 of Avella will accord military rites at 5:45 p.m. There will be no funeral service. At the request of the deceased, everyone is asked to wear casual attire to the funeral home. The celebration of Mr. Woodburn's life will continue immediately after visitations on the patio at Breezy Heights Tavern, Avella.
