LUDWIG NICHOLAS, 86
Ludwig Nicholas Ladas, "Mike" 86, of Ocala, Florida passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 peacefully.
Mike was born in New York City, New York on June 12, 1927. He serviced his country in the Army and Army Reserves for 30 years and retired as a Captain. He received his Masters Degree at the University of Miami and became a professor at the University of Miami as well. Mike was a proud animal activist and lifetime member of the NRA.
He is preceded in death by his father Nicholas; his mother, Dagmar; his brother Aristidis; and his sister Katherine. He is survived by his wife Helena "Penny" of 40 years; his son Ludwig Jr. of Miami, FL; his daughter Kelly Olson, of Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law Cathy Barrios of Key West; his brother-in-law Crawford (Leslie) Banks of Lecanto, FL.; his brother-in-law Raymond (Toni) Gilbert of Ocala; sister-in-law Anita (James) Welch of Margate, FL.; his brother-in-law Joe Gilbert (Cathy) of Coral Springs, FL.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a viewing from noon until 2 PM on Tuesday, July 23rd at Heirs-Baxley Funeral Services Chapel at 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd. with services immediately following. Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct an interment service at the Woodlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, July 24th at 11 AM.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sylvia's Hospice House for the excellent care they provided Mike in his last days in making him as comfortable as possible.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Wounded Soldiers Project in memory of Mike.
