COOPER, MARY B., 90 Ft. Pierce - Mary B. Cooper, 90, passed away in Ft. Pierce, FL on Sunday, November 23, 2014. She was born in Coldwater, MI and then moved to Hillsdale County, MI where she and her husband Robert developed Mary Lake. Mary then moved to Ocala in 1974 where she owned Camper Village of America on SR 200 for 29 years. She also loved to play the organ and work her jigsaw puzzles. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert H. Cooper, her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her children, Alesa and husband Dick, Janet Haid, and Robert C. Cooper, a sister, Elizabeth Weaver, grandchildren, Laura (Kirk), David, Erin, Angel (Dan), and Christopher, great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Bryce, Mary, McKay, Ciera, Dylan and Eric, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with family to accept friends one hour prior at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 S. Pine Ave., Ocala, FL 33480. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at 800-805-5856 in her name.

GREEN, DOROTHY SPENCER "DOTTIE"  
GREEN, DOROTHY 'DOTTIE' SPENCER May 29, 1922 - Nov. 22, 2014 Ocala - Dorothy 'Dottie' Spencer Green journeyed into her heavenly home on November 22, 2014 from the loving care at Sylvia's Hospice House in Ocala, FL after a brief illness. Dottie was born in New Bedford, MA to Arthur and Kathleen Spencer. Her sister, Lucy, preceded her in death. Dorothy and Lucy were affectionately called the 'Spencer Girls.' She is survived by her daughter, Nancy E. Hutchinson (Bruce), Ocala, FL, and her son, Spencer Green (Joanne) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, grandchildren, Scott A. Hutchinson (Lucy), Ocala, FL, Adam G. Hutchinson (Carolyn), Arlington, MA, Matthew B. Hutchinson, (Amy), Apopka, FL, Martha H. Rucker (Dennis), Clarksville, TN, Seth and Molly Green, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Kathleen (Katie), Seattle, WA, great grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Hutchinson and Ethan Spencer Rucker. George G. Green, faithful and loving husband, preceded her in death in March 1999. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jeffrey, Bonnie and Becky and families in California. Dorothy was a 'Rosie the Riveter' during World War II working at Pratt and Whitney in Conn. After graduating early from New Bedford High School in New Bedford, Massachusetts (he was proud of her birthplace), she worked at Acushnet Process (Titleist) and years later became the Assistant to the Tax Collector in Wareham MA from which she retired. After a few years of retirement in St. Augustine, she moved to Ocala. Dorothy volunteered at Hospice Thrift Store in Silver Springs Shores for many years as well as an honored volunteer at the Veterans Park in Ocala. Always with American Pride, she was able to attend the Veterans Service at the park on November 11, 2014. She served on the Board of her condo association, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed her swimming classes. Music was always an important part of her life and she was state supreme organist for the emblem club (Elks) for the states of Florida and Massachusetts. She had a love of writing and penned her life stories for her family. She was a loyal member of First Christian Church in Ocala, and is also survived by nieces and nephews and her special companion Ret. Lt. Col. Eugene Diamond. Her special place on earth was 'Big Sandy Pond' in Plymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either Hospice of Marion County, Veterans Park of Ocala, or First Christian Church, 1908 Fort King St. Ocala, FL 34471. Services will be held Wednesday, November 26th at First Christian Church at 3:00PM, with her granddaughter, The Reverend Martha H. Rucker officiating.

Grove, Iva Jane  
GROVE, IVA JANE, 85 Ocala - Iva Jane Grove, 85, passed away on November 17, 2014 at Chambrel Assisted Living Facility in Ocala, FL. She was born on September 20, 1929 in Hancock, MD to James Ellis and Iva Jane Grove. Jane grew up in Hancock, MD. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Maryland where she received a Bachelors of Science. She later went on to receive her Masters of Education. Jane began her teaching career at National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. She went on to teach at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where she worked until retirement. During this time she was also a camp counselor in Maine where she eventually bought a cabin and spent many happy summers with family and friends. After retiring to Tuckerton, NJ and Ocala, FL, Jane enjoyed playing golf, both recreationally and in tournaments. She enjoyed going to the casinos and loved to read. Jane was a volunteer at Munroe Regional Medical Center and a member of the Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church where she was an active member of the Alzheimer's Support Group. She was a devoted caregiver to her lifelong friend Doris Welsh until she passed away. Jane is survived by; her nieces, Patricia S. Emmanuel and Gail S. Walls of Pennsylvania; her nephew Mark E. Stevens of Wilmington, Delaware; her brother in law Irvine Powell of Hockessin, Delaware; six great nieces and nephews; and three great-great nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents James and Iva, her sister Mary Stevens Powell, and brother-in-law John Stevens. The family would like to thank her friends who visited, her caregivers at Chambrel and Gentiva Hospice, and especially her friend and caregiver Evalyn Gouge. A memorial service will be held at Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church, 674 Silver Road Ocala, FL 34472 at 11:00 a.m. November 29, 2014, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at the Cloister Memorial Garden at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church.

Hickok, Lowell Eugene "Bud"  
HICKOK, LOWELL E., 79 Hawthorne - Lowell Eugene 'Bud' Hickok, 79, of Hawthorne, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at UF Health in Gainesville. A native of Los Angeles, he had resided in Hawthorne for 11 years moving there from Ocala. Lowell retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Yeoman after 20 years of service. He had also worked for 7 years as a security guard at Adena Springs South Thoroughbred Horse Farm in Williston. In his leisure, Lowell enjoyed collecting antique vehicles, working around and maintaining his property, watching golf and tennis, crypto puzzle games and anything that was mind-challenging. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Hickok, a daughter, Sheri L. Hickok, two sons, Troy E. Hickok and Darrin D. Hickok, Sr. and his wife Sharon M. Hickok, his grandchildren, Darrin D. Hickok, Jr., Jennifer M. Hickok and Cole R. Hickok and his sister, Ruby Wilmoth and husband Bill. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with full military honors by the U.S. Coast Guard. MILLER, WYLMA MADALENE BUCKNER Ocala - Wylma Madalene Buckner Miller was born April 4, 1922 in Morley, Iowa to James and Wylma Buckner. She died November 24, 2014 at her daughter's home in Ocala, FL. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL. A family graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 S. Pine Ave., Ocala, FL 34480 on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. Mrs. Miller graduated from Anamosa (IA) High School in 1939. After farming in Iowa for many years, the family moved to Ocala in 1960. She retired from Pioneer Products in Ocala. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ocala for 54 years and has spent her retirement years as matriarch to her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chester Miller, her brother, Paul Buckner and her sister, Florence Jean Dearborn. Surviving her are her son, Gary (Susan) Miller of Limestone, TN; her daughter, Camille (James) McKnight of Ocala; her precious granddaughters Lori (Tom) Conrad, Kelly McKnight, of Ocala, Erin (Lanny) Thompson, of Citra, and Meghan (John) Scimone of Great Falls, VA. Also her beloved great grandchildren, Will Conrad, Hannah Conrad, Cooper Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson, Lilah Scimone, and Graham Scimone. PONS, DELMA MACK, 73 Citra - Delma Mack Pons, 73, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014. Born January 23, 1941, in Jacksonville, FL, to Delma Charnie and Adelaide (Sherouse) Pons. He resided in Marion County all his life and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He retired from the Post Office as a Rural Route Carrier. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Phil Pons. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Winifred Pons, sister, Sylvia Leitner; niece, Shannon Scully (Steve); and nephews, Dane Pons (Christa) and Justin Leitner (Amanda); great nephew Cody Scully (Barbara) and great nieces Holly Melin (Josh), Bailey and Bristol Leitner. Slagle, James - Dunnellon  
SLAGLE, JAMES, 82 Dunnellon - James Slagle, 82, of Dunnellon, Florida passed away on November 21, 2014. James and his late wife Lora (1935-2013) were married for 60 years and were owners of Slagle Used Cars in Dunnellon from 1968 to 2007. James was past President of the Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce and was very active in the Dunnellon business community throughout his career. He served two years of active military duty in the Korean War for the United States Army and four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Born in Marshall, North Carolina on December 12, 1931, James is survived by his sons: Kenneth Slagle, of Dunnellon; Jerry Slagle, Southlake, Texas, and Mark Slagle of Ocala, FL. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Mitchell, Marshall, Madison, and Yolanda, and will be missed by his sister Ruth Willoughby of Birmingham, Alabama, brother Carter Slagle of Dunnellon, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. In lieu for flowers, please honor James and the Slagle family this holiday season by taking time to celebrate life and creating special memories with your family and loved ones. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 10-11:00 AM followed by services at 11:00 AM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon with Reverend Lewis Childers of Marion County Hospice officiating. VISGA, ROBERT J., 67 Ocala - Robert J. Visga, 67, passed away November 18, 2014 after a seven month courageous battle. Born July 28, 1947 in Port Huron, Michigan. Beloved Son of Elizabeth (Nalepa) Visga of Port Huron, Michigan and the late Leo J. Visga (2007) of Port Huron, Michigan. Robert is survived by his mother Elizabeth Visga, son Jamey Visga of Port Huron, Michigan, daughter Heather Diacont of Citrus Springs, Forida, and daughter in law Tina Knight of Citrus Springs, Florida. Grand-children Gage, Danny, Rikki, Josh, Adam and Katie, sister Christine ( Roger) St. Gelais of Point Edward, Ont., Canada, sister Diane (Michael) Fallmann of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, sister Merry (Daniel) Thomas of Point Edward. Ontario, Canada, sister Martha (Daniel) Dorland of Jeddo, Michigan several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in passing by son Brian Jeffrey Visga (1987). Cremation has already taken place. 'ALWAYS ON OUR MINDS AND FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS.'

HINTON, BOBBY BROWN, 76 Palatka - Bobby Brown Hinton, 76, of Palatka, FL., died November 20, 2014, in Orange Park, FL. Bobby was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia on October 31, 2014. He died from complications following treatment at Orange Park Medical Center. Bobby was born September 12, 1938, in Camden, AR., to Mary Agnes Hammond and Frank Berry Hinton. Bobby graduated from Ruston High School in 1956 and Louisiana Tech University in 1961, both in Ruston, LA. He had a football scholarship where he played tackle for Joe Aillet, where he was a member of the 1958 Gulf Coast Conference championship team. He had various engineering jobs in Louisiana and Texas after graduation. He moved to Palatka, FL., in 1965 to work for Hudson Pulp and Paper until 1977. He met his wife Renn, a former teacher at Mosley Elementary, in Palatka in 1969. They married on August 22, 1971, at the annual Stancil Family Reunion in Johnston County, NC. Bobby was a volunteer fireman in East Palatka, FL. for four years. After relocating to Burlington, KY., he worked for Equitable Bag and Crescent Paper Tube before working for Stone Container for 12 years in Louisville, KY.; Wellsburg, WV.; Hialeah, FL; Tolleson, AZ.; Hodge, LA.; and Cantonment, FL. He retired in 2001. He and his wife returned to Palatka, FL., in 2002, to live in the first home they purchased in 1975. Bobby was interested in home design, woodworking, grilling, watching 'The Woodwright's Shop,' listening to classical music, 'Car Talk,' 'Prairie Home Companion' and The Puzzlemaster Will Shortz on NPR; playing music, painting, drawing, photography, reading and blacksmithing. He grew up listening to the St. Cardinals broadcasts on the radio as a child. He loved visiting with cousins, friends and other relatives, talking about religion, philosophy, science and other topics. He was a member of the Disciples of Christ churches at First Christian Church in Ocala, FL.; Erlanger Christian Church in Erlanger, KY.; Beargrass Christian Church in Louisville, KY.; First Christian Church in Wheeling, WV.; First Christian Church in Pensacola, FL.; and again First Christian Church in Ocala, FL. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jay Benjamin Hinton and sister-in-law Georgeanne Stancil Schore. He is survived by wife of 43 years, Renn Stancil Hinton; children, Darcee Hinton Sams (Jimmy) of Pensacola, FL.; Kip Austin Hinton (Amalia Ortiz) of Harlingen, TX; Ty Alexander Hinton of Palatka, FL.; Brent Ashley Hinton of Pensacola, FL.; and Coree Anne Hinton of St. Thomas, USVI; brother Richard Berry Hinton (Alice Marie) of Frisco, TX; sister Bette Hinton Martensen of Arlington, TX; brothers-in-law Glenn Schore of Ocala, FL.; Hale Ralph Stancil (Becky) of Ocala, FL.; and William Harold Stancil (Kim Brown) of Ocala, FL.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial honoring his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2014, at First Christian Church in Ocala, FL.
