Giorgio J. Placanico

Ocala - On December 15, 2012, at Ocala Regional Hospital, Giorgio J. Placanico, surrounded by his family, was called to rest. He was born on December 1, 1940 to George and Maria Rose Placanico.
Giorgio is survived by his wife Susan Placanico of Ocala, FL; his sister, Mary Henriques of Agawam, MA; a daughter, Karen Murdzia and her husband Steve of West Springfield; his son, Paul and his wife, Danielle of Feeding Hills, MA; and his daughter Jennifer Villarante and her husband Al of Bedford, NH; a son, Gregory Robidoux of Nashua, NH. He also leaves three granddaughters; Annmarie and Christina Murdzia of West Springfield, MA, and Nina Vallarante of Bedford, NH; and three grandsons, Daniel Murdzia of West Springfield, MA, A.J. Placanico of Feeding Hills, MA, and Gavin Villarante of Bedford, NH. Giorgio also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Giorgio was predeceased by two brothers, James J. of Springfield, MA, and Salvatore of Feeding Hills, MA, and a sister, Theresa Leone of East Longmeadow, MA.
Giorgio attended school in Springfield, MA. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired firefighter and public relation officer for the Springfield Fire Department. He was a past member of the sons of Italy Marion County Lodge 2648, past Grand Knight and financial secretary/vice president for the Knights of Columbus No. 11419, a past member to the municipal code enforcement board to the city of Ocala and a notary public.
There will be a memorial mass at Blessed Trinity Church on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. A burial will be taking place on a later date in Springfield, MA at St. Michael's Cemetery.
