Ocala - Mr. James R. Matlock, 89, of Ocala, FL, died January 15, 2013 in Ocala.
He was born August 29, 1923. He was a native of Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Fairview High School and later attended The Ohio State University and The American Academy of Art, Chicago. He proudly served in the United States Navy in World War ll. He was the owner of Matlock Electric Company until the company was sold in 1963. His talent for drawing caricatures of friends and family was treasured by all.
He dearly loved his wife, Sue, for 59 years until her death in 2007. They lived in Cincinnati, OH for 25 years before moving to Ocala in 1979 where they became active members of Golden Hills Country Club.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas P. Matlock (Betsy) of Naples, FL and Jack J. Matlock (Joan) of Ocala; granddaughters Meredith A. DeLano (Jason) of Bethesda, MD and Holly M. Farley (Michael) of Nashville, TN; grandsons Brian A. Matlock of Chicago, IL, Tyler P. Matlock of New York, NY and Ross A. Matlock of Milwaukee, WI and great grandchildren Andrew J. DeLano, Paige T. DeLano, Charles T. DeLano, Landon M. Farley and Lillian B. Farley.
A graveside service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH on February 1, 2013 at 3:30 p.m.
