Summerfield - Joseph C. Machovoe, 95, passed away June 22, 2013 at Tuscany House Summerfield, Florida.
He was born on August 31, 1917 in Rock Glen, New York to Joseph and Antonia (Andrus ) Mackovac. He moved to this area from Batavia New York in 1982. Mr. Machovoe was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church where he was an usher, member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active volunteer in the Soup Kitchen. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and Korea, in the Big Red One. During World War II he was in the third wave of the Normandy Invasion. He was a retired Superintendent of the National Guard Armory in Batavia, NY.
He is survived by, his wife Barbara Machovoe, daughters, Maureen Davis, Alice DeCamp, and Cheryl Macklem, sons Richard, Donald, Robert, David, Raymond, step sons James and Eric Eldred, 27 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery.
