Ocala - Mr. Michael Alex Gant, 55, of Ocala, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Tuscany Hospice House.
A native of Columbus, GA, he moved to this area in 1994. He was a member of Bible Believers Baptist Church, was former Chairman of the Homeless Council of Ocala, volunteered with the Salvation Army, and was a ministry volunteer at the Marion County Jail as well as the Lowell Correctional Facility.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Gant; his mother Brunhild E. Elkin and stepfather William M. Elkin; daughters Kathleen Gant Nixon, Noel Gant, and Crystal Gant; his son William A. Gant, his grandson Geno M.R. Nixon; and his sister Dianne G. Lee and her husband Thomas O Lee, III. He was preceded in death by his father William A. Gant.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., with Michael's uncle, Pastor Bob Gant, officiating.
