MICHAEL LEONARD TORSIELLO

TORSIELLO, MICHAEL LEONARD, 92
Ocala - Michael Leonard Torsiello peacefully passed away on June 9, 2014. He was 92 years young.
Born on July 14, 1921 in Brooklyn New York, Michael was the proud son of Angelo and Grace Torsiello. He lived in New York until 1982 when he moved to Ocala, Florida.
Michael defended his country from the perils of World War II as a member of the Army Air Service group in Burtonwood, England from 1942-1946.
He had an interesting and diverse career in sales with Canada Dry Corporation, where he happily worked until retiring in 1980 as a District Sales Manager.
Never one to sit still, once in Florida, Michael and his wife Helga opened Helmik Sales in the Market of Marion. There they sold many things over the years including lace, perfumes, cosmetics, model planes and military memorabilia. And if you needed your watch battery replaced, that was the place to go.
He was a member of the Lions Club International, the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the Burtonwood Association.
Michael was predeceased by his wives; Catherine Edith Sharkey (1920 -1960), Helga Bieck (1936 - 2001) and Muriel Schinkai (1919 - 2006); by his siblings, Antoinette Giglio, Josephine Kerr and Charles Torsiello; and also by his son Michael Angelo Torsiello (1953 -2002).
He leaves behind his daughters; Patricia Smith (Cocoa, FL), Michele Torsiello (Hoboken, NJ) and Claudia Cooley (Sayville, NY); nephew Sandy Giglio (Palm Coast, FL); long time companion Enid Videlock (Ocala, FL), as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held at Robert's Funeral Home, 2738 Maricamp Road, Ocala, Florida on Saturday, June 21st at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Honor Flight Network. This organization flies veterans to visit the World War ll Memorial in Washington DC.
