Obed Oglesby II

Ocala - Lt. Col. (Ret.) Obed Oglesby, II, son of Obed and Ethel was born June 20, 1922 in Ravenwood, Missouri. He departed this life January 1, 2014 at Life Care Center in Ocala, Florida where God in His wisdom saw best to call him from this earth. He was 91 at the time of his passing.
He was one of the first men inducted into the Army Air Force when it was formed. Obie served 25 years as a pilot in the Air Force. He served our country in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retirement from the service he was a pilot with various corporations for 20 years.
Obie is survived by his wife of 32 years, Blanche; son, Obed Oglesby, III; daughters, Stephanie Phillips, Rita Swain, Barbara Mascari; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and brother, Vilas Oglesby.
A memorial service was held in the chapel of First United Methodist Church Monday, January 6, 2014 with Dr. John Few officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church. Lt. Col. Oglesby will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC with full military honors at a later date.
