Ocala - Paul Wharen, 91, of Ocala, passed on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in Ocala. He was born in Drums, PA and spent most of his life in Rockville, MD; moving here in 1990.
His career was that of a Electronics Technician with the FDA, specializing in testing medical devices. Paul was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, having served on the Susan B. Anthony which was hit by a mine and sunk at the time he was involved with the Invasion of Normandy. He was awarded the Purple Heart but declined it for he thought his injury was not serious enough. He was a Mason. He loved shuffleboard and shooting pool.
He is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn of 63 years, children, Carol, Paul David and Pat. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services are private by family, under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala.
