Ocala - Raymond W. Alvord, 91, of Ocala, passed away January 31, 2014 with his loving family at his side.
He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Asiatic Pacific theatre and a Member of the Philanthropic Lodge No. 0164 of the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons.
Ray is predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Passage, and survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Ruth Alvord, of Ocala; 2 sons: Gregory Alvord (Donna), of Raleigh, NC; Randall Alvord (Trisha) of Anthony, FL; a granddaughter, who was raised as his own daughter, Rebecca (Robert) Strausser, of Ocala; 4 grandchildren: Stephanie Hill, of Greenville, NC; Hayley and Kaitlyn Alvord, both of Anthony, FL; 4 great grandchildren: Alexander and Zachery Hill, both of Raleigh, NC, and Natalie and Amelia Strausser, both of Ocala.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb 4th at ROBERTS DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 606 SW 2 AVE, OCALA, 34471 from 1 to 2 pm, when a celebration of life will be held with Dr. Marc Cummins of Church of Hope, Officiating.
