Ocklawaha - Robert Jerome Roberts, 61 of Ocklawaha, went to be with our Lord Thursday morning July 25, 2013 at The Villages Regional Hospital, with his loving daughter and former wife at his side.
A native of Newton, NJ he was born August 16, 1951 to Robert E. Gunn and the late Joan Drusilla Cramer Gunn Roberts and stepfather, Dr. Carl S. Roberts.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Melissa Dawn Kay; her mother Deborah Nix Roberts; granddaughter, Alexis Dawn Barfield; father, Robert E. Gunn of Hudson, FL; brothers William "Bill" Roberts of Ocala, Carl S. Roberts, Cedar Hill, TX, Joe Andrew Roberts, Garland, TX; a sister Jonita Drusilla Roberts Morse and a niece Michella Morse both of Garland, TX.
Robert was a graduate of Lake Weir High School in 1969 and CFCC in 1972. He was a Residential Property Manager in Ocklawaha, and Distribution Manager of Silver Springs Souvenirs after retiring from his painting business; he also served as a Manager of Pic N Save, Save A Lot and was a Supervisor at Skyline Mobile Homes in the Saw Mill Dept. In 1969 Robert had the honor of starting the Shipping and Receiving Dept. at Lockheed Martin.
Robert was a devoted Gator fan and a Life Time member of Bass Masters. He loved his Volkswagens, Go cart racing, CB Radios, and friends, but most of all, loved his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather and a family man.
A celebration of life and gathering of friends and family has been scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd, 6 p.m. at Church Lake, 700 NE 142nd Ave., Silver Springs, 34488.
He would want us to remember him in his happiest times. Don't bring tissues! Bring a fishing pole and dress casual. We will celebrate a wonderful father and friend to everyone he ever met! Please RSVP at: 352.895.0330.
