Ocala - William F. Leonard, Jr., of Ocala, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013.
He was born on December 5, 1940 in Ocala and was the son of the late William and Daphne Leonard. He was a Navy veteran and currently served as Yeoman for the U.S.S. Goodrich (DD/DDR-831) Association. He was a member of Ocala First United Methodist Church, Ocala Quarterback Club, Ocala Elks Lodge, Marion-Dunn Masonic Lodge and a proud supporter of Florida State University. He was a former member of the Silver Springs Rotary and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Bill was the owner of Leonard's Office Machine Company. He was semi-retired but still loved to sell and repair typewriters for many people, not only in Marion County, but surrounding counties as well. Leonard's Office Machine Company has been an Ocala family owned business for three generations.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Nancy Leonard, daughter Tricia (Doug) Knapp and two grandchildren Rachel and David Knapp; sister Linda Leonard Ouzts; brother Dick (Cora Belle) Leonard; sister-in-law Carol Leonard; three daughters by marriage; Heather (Neal) Fontana, Robin Henry, Shannon (Mark) Vianello and seven grandchildren; Jessica Knapp; Devin, Justin and Ethan Fontana; Kristen, Tyler and Lauren Henry; John, Nicole and Christine Vianello.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bud Leonard.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Ocala First United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the celebration in the church's Family Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ocala First United Methodist Church (Ocala First Preschool) or Interfaith.
