HENRY, ALMA MONICA
Alma Monica Henry, nee Freckleton, was born on July 1, 1926 to Edith and Phillip Freckleton, in Spauldings, Jamaica. She worked in accounting in Jamaica, before migrating to Hamilton, NY and worked in the library at Colgate University, where her husband, George was a professor of economics. They retired to Ocala, FL, where they lived for over twelve years before moving to Leesburg in 2006. Alma survived a massive stroke several years ago which left her paralyzed on her right side requiring her to learn to do everything with her left hand. She later suffered a heart attack but her tenacity and independent spirit allowed her to resume her role as primary homemaker and caretaker of her beloved husband, George. She died June 1, 2011 in Leesburg, FL following a brief illness. She is survived by husband, George, daughter Maria Robinson (Elmo); sister, Joyce Byles, grandsons, Lamar Williams and Kyle Robinson; great-grandchildren, Camron Williams, Damion Williams and Arayah Robinson. She is also survived by niece Tina Williams and nephew, Mark Byles. The funeral will take place Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 W. Main Street, Leesburg.
