Ocala - Alonzo Dillon Smith, (Smitty/A.D.), passed away peacefully on July 19, 2013.
Born in Nisqually, Washington, he moved from Tennessee to Ocala in the late 40's. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II in Germany in the 267 Field Artillery BN division in 1944-45. After coming back home, he fell in love and married Freddie Mae Sherouse on April 5, 1947. He was a Construction Contractor by trade and a carpenter. He firmly believed in the Seventh Day Adventist beliefs, and until his death he was a teacher of the Holy Scripture.
Preceded in death by his son, Charles Alan Smith, and daughter, Nancy Arlene Smith; sisters, Dana Allen, and Ruby Reynolds, and brother, Harry Smith. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Freddie Mae Smith; sons, Dennis A. Smith and Randall J. Smith; daughter, Alice M. Pruitt; and sister, Marion Gallant. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Eddie, Kenny, Stephanie, Brian, Becky and Matt, along with several great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Belleview, date to be announced.
