Alonzo Harden Obituary

HARDEN JR., ALONZO, 72
Georgia- Alonzo "Bud" Harden Jr., 72, passed away on Friday May 13, 2011. Mr. Harden was born in Indiana, and eventually moved to Florida where he raised his family then to Georgia where he lived his final years. In addition to being a great father, loving husband, and kind person; folks that knew Bud would also agree he was a hard worker and had always put the needs of his family first above his own. In fact Bud was still working until very recently as General Manager for Prestige Home Centers, Inc. a position he held for over 20 years. With his years came wisdom and Bud could always be counted on to provide guidance or help to his family or other that have sought his advice. Mr. Harden was also a dog owner and loved the special bond an owner has with his furry, four legged companions. He also enjoyed gardening and working on outdoor projects. Backyard sheds, children's playgrounds, fencing, and barns, no matter how complex the project; each was completed and to the amazement of his children seemingly with no written diagrams or instructions! He is survived by his devoted wife Helen Harden of Sylvester Georgia; his (4) children Ryan Harden, Gainesville, FL; Christopher Harden, Ocala, FL; Alonzo Harden III, Trenton, FL; Gabrielle Ross, Houston, TX; and (4) grandchildren; Indiana, Jacob, Morgan, and Alonzo IV; who all miss their " Papaw" very much. Service will be held at The 1st Baptist Church of Acree, 110 County Line Rd. Sylvester, Georgia 31791 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday the 21st of May 2011.

I met Bud and his family in the mid 80's when he came to work as the Sales Manager where I worked. Any time the conversation is about who was the greatest salesman,
Bud always was in first place. He was
a great guy and a real family man. I send Helen and his children my condolences.

Bud was a great guy!! He always had that father figure, constantly asking how life was going and making sure I was a happy person. Then after working with Gabs, the caring just increased. He will be truely missed.

Helen,
I am so sorry to hear about Bud. We were business friends for over 20 years . From Stewart's in Tampa to Silver River in Ocala to his many years at Prestige in Chiefland.
He used to call me "Tiger" but he was the tiger. His numerous awards for sales and manager performance are awesome. I've often said that Bud was in a class by himself as a saleman/manager and a humble class act along with all his success. He will live on in my memory and will never be forgotten by myself or by the many of us that had the privelege to associate with him over the years. God bless you Bud Harden.
