OTT, BARBARA S.
The Guest Book is expired.
Ocala, FL - Barbara S. Ott, a long-time resident of Ocala, went home to be with The Lord on Monday the 6th of May at Palm Garden Nursing Home in Ocala.
Born on September 4, 1932, Barbara was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later received a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduation from college, Barbara moved to Florida and taught high school for many years in Boca Raton, where she worked until her retirement.
Barbara was loved by her Church family at Ocala First United Methodist Church, where she and her husband, William, joined in 1987. Barbara was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a wonderful smile that could light up a room; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving of herself to others around her.
Barbara never had children of her own, but she was committed to restoring the lives of children residing at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. Her love for children always shined through, it was this love for the "least among us" that made Barbara great in the eyes of Jesus, because when Jesus had a moment to teach on greatness, He stood up a child, and He said "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me." For this, Barbara's last breath on Earth was her first breath in Heaven, and Jesus welcomed her with open arms.
Barbara had a heart of gold, a Christ-like spirit and a mind for details. It was because of these qualities, she was able to make a wonderful legacy gift to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, which will perpetuate her love for children for years to come through the development of the Ott Home, a residence for neglected youth, at the Madison Youth Ranch.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, William M. Ott in July 4, 1990.
There are no immediate plans for a Memorial Service, however there will be a special program held at the opening of the Ott Home to honor her life. Memorial donations can be made to The Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Main St. Enterprise, FL 32725.
