Ocala - Benjamin Claude Cannon, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013 in Ocala, Florida.
He moved to Ocala six years ago from Citrus County. He is a retired Petty Officer First Class of the United States Navy, where he served more than 20 years and retired from Independent Life Insurance Company also, where he'd been for 16 years. He is a former member of Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn; daughters, Becky Cannon and Donna (John) Kelsay; grandchildren, Joseph and Rebecca Kelsay, all of Ocala; sister, Nola Lockwood of Jacksonville and brother, Roma Cannon of Idabelle, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala Chapel, 910 SE Silver Springs Boulevard, on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 10 a.m. until Service time at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Family requests memorial donations be made to Oakcrest Baptist Church.
