Silver Springs - Apostle Bernard Tuggerson Sr. passed away at his home in Silver Springs, Florida on Thursday evening, November 15, 2012.
He was born on December 15, 1951 in Marion County, Florida. He was the son of the late Bernice and Jimmie Tuggerson. Apostle Tuggerson was educated in the Marion County School System.
He and his wife, Pastor Lillie Tuggerson were the first Afro-American couple in the Southern region to be a Chevron dealer. In that business and in his vocation as a master automotive technician, he was and a man of high integrity and honesty.
Apostle Tuggerson gave his life to the Lord in 1976, at which time he completely submitted himself to the divine will of God. Apostle Tuggerson has always had a desire to see souls won to Christ. He became pastor of Pentecostal Full Gospel Church (PFGC) on Northwest Fourth Street until 2002, when he purchased 18 acres of land on North Highway 441 and built a sanctuary. During his ministry, churches were established in Pierson and Crescent City, Florida. Apostle Tuggerson also has been instrumental in helping to establish churches in Georgia and other parts of Florida as well. Because of Apostle Tuggerson's steadfastness in ministry, he was beneficial in building relationships with Ocala's City Officials. He also was a member of the Pastor's Alliance in nearby towns.
He is survived by his wife, Pastor Lillie Tuggerson; a son and daughter-in-law, Bernard, Jr. and Pinkie Tuggerson; son, Al Selser; and a daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Anthony Alexander and one mother-in-law, Olevy Snow. Apostle Tuggerson also leaves behind eight brothers and 18 sisters.
The Apostolic Celebration of Life Home Going Services of our dear Apostle will be as follows: The Local & Regional Home Going Celebration is Friday, November 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Pentecostal Full Gospel Worship Center,(PFGC), 5015 N Hwy 441, Ocala, FL., 352-622-8960. The National Home Going Celebration is Saturday, November 24th at 10 a.m. at Living Waters Worship Center, 3801 N. US Hwy 441, Ocala, FL.
