CHARLIE G. "C.G.", 90
Ocala - Charlie G. "C.G." Peavy passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 5, 2013 with his family at his side.
He was born May 17, 1922 in Graceville, Florida to Walter H. and Ella Baxter Peavy. Mr. Peavy resided in Marion County for 64 years and was a retired General Contractor. After his retirement he and wife "Berta" ran a produce business. He served in the Army during World War II from 1940 to 1945. During his service to his country he was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Peavy loved his family and enjoyed the many camping trips, holidays, especially July 4th and family outings when they could all be together.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his stepmother Eleanor Peavy; and three brothers, Adolph, Frank and Herbert.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alberta Malory Peavy; sons Donnie (Julia), Jody (Debra), Charles (Sheila), Allen (Kathy) and Mark (Kim), his daughter Donna Peavy (Scot); 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sister Muriel Maddox, of Ocala; brother Tom Peavy of Americus Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 9185 NE Jacksonville Road, Anthony, Florida. A celebration of Mr. Peavy's life will be held on Monday, March 11th at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church, 1300 NE 100th Street, Anthony, Florida with Mr. Peavy's grandson, Juddy Peavy giving the eulogy and the Reverend Samuel Clements officiating. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made in Mr. Peavy's name to Hospice of Marion County.
