Ocklawaha - David O. "Buckshot" Rainey, Jr., 87, passed from this life Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Born in Oxford, FL, he was the son of the late David and Gladys (Robinson) Rainey. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
David was a retired crew supervisor for Marion County Road Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoyed wood working and made countless wooden toys that he gave to the neighborhood children. He was Marion County's first licensed Nuisance Alligator Trapper. His greatest joy was his wife of 53 years Alice and their two boys.
David is survived by his wife, Alice (Shaulis) Rainey, sons, David A. Rainey of Belleview, Michael O. Rainey of Ocala, three granddaughters and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Manning.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Lone Oak Cemetery, 306 Thomas Avenue, Leesburg, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, P. O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860.
