Dennis Peter Gallagher, Jr. passed away on August 27, 2013 after a brief illness.
Mr. Gallagher was born in Jamestown, NY on September 13, 1930. His parents were Bessie Hutt and Dennis Peter Gallagher Sr. He lived in Buffalo, New York until moving to Sparr, FL in 1947; graduating from Anthony High School in 1948. He was a meticulous employee and a good friend. Mr. Gallagher had many talents, having worked as a photographer at Silver Springs Attraction and then working for Libby, McNeill and Libby as a shipping clerk then promoted to Human Resources. He worked at Bard Parker as a Warehouse Supervisor and his last position was with Royal Oak as Warehouse Manager. Mr. Gallagher was a member of Pine United Methodist Church in Fort McCoy, Florida.
Mr. Gallagher was preceded in death by his beloved siblings: Charles Emmett Gallagher, Blanche Gallagher Grant, and Jane Gallagher Brewster. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Anita Jane Chappell Gallagher, sons Dennis Peter Gallagher III (Lalla Rook), and John Patrick Gallagher (Tara); grandchildren, Liam Charles Gallagher, Sean Dennis Gallagher, Megan Grace Gallagher, Kaitlyn Joy Gallagher; nephew, Mark Randolph, nieces, Rachel Randolph, Karen Sawyer as well as several more loved nieces and nephews and his cousins Joe, Tom, and Matt Gallagher.
Dennis Gallagher was a treasured father and grandfather as well as a true friend. He was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. He was always willing to help someone in need and felt strongly about the value of family. Dennis Gallagher knew no strangers, had a quick wit, a contagious laugh with a great sense of humor and was steadfast in his belief of truth and honor.
A Memorial service will be held at Druid Hills Methodist Church at 1712 SE Lake Weir Rd., Ocala, FL, at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 31st. There will be a reception with the family immediately following the service.
