POPE, EDGAR S., 98
Ocala- Edgar S. Pope, 98, whose passing was marked on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Born on April 30, 1916 to Daniel and Doshea Pope of Defuniak Springs, FL.
Edgar was the oldest of four brothers, all of whom served their country during WWII. After the war, Edgar returned home to his wife, the former Iva Jean Hardy of Ponce DeLeon, FL and his only child, Rod. Edgar enrolled in the University of Florida under the GI Bill and obtained a degree in Pharmacy which opened a long career with Rexall Drugs, Atwood and Rogers Pharmacy and Baptist Hospital all of Jacksonville. After he retired, he moved to Ocala, FL to help care for his grandson Cole. After the passing of his wife in 1990, Edgar devoted his entire life to his grandson. For the next 24 years his only care was for God and his family. Edgar was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ocala.
He is survived by Rod, daughter-in-law Elma, Cole, his wife Nikki and great-grandson Rohen Edgar, all of Ocala.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 10 am at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 S. Pine Ave. Ocala, FL 34480.
