Evelyn Culbertson Obituary

CULBERTSON, DR. EVELYN DAVIS, 91 Dr. Evelyn Johnson Davis Culbertson, 91, of Ocala, passed away August 4, 2006. Born in Carrington, ND, she came to this area 10 years ago from Tulsa, OK. She earned her B.A. at Concordia College, M.M. at Syracuse University and Ph.D. at Maryland University. She was a Professor Emeritus, former Director of the Music Education program she developed at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. She was active in state and national M.E.N.C. as well as local music circles. In addition to college teaching in several areas, her past experiences included positions as choral director, church organist and both performer and teacher of voice and piano. She was a past member of Oak Griner Baptist Church, Ocala and South Tulsa Baptist Church. She was currently a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her sons, Bryan Davis of St. Petersburg, FL, Darrell Davis and Allan Davis and wife Flora of Ocala; grandchildren, Kenneth, Allison and Amanda Davis, and Susan Blum; a great granddaughter, Kayla Davis; sister, Doris Hendrickson of Reno Nevada; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph M. Davis and Floyd Culbertson. A Memorial Service will be held at ROBERTS FUNERAL HOMES, BRUCE CHAPEL EAST 2739 SE Maricamp Rd. Ocala 352-732-9944 on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the CFCC Music Department.
