Ocala - Mr. Frederick E. Morrison, 89, of Ocala, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Legacy Hospice House.
A native of North Carolina, he moved to Marion County in 1954, coming here from Hamlet, NC. Fred enlisted in the US Navy at the beginning of WWII and served six years on a destroyer escort. He retired as a mechanic for the CSX Railroad System, and was an avid fisherman.
He belonged to several organizations, including the Marion Dunn Lodge #19, F & AM; Ocala Scottish Rite Bodies; VFW Post #4209, and the Morocco Shrine Temple in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his sons Joseph E. Morrison, Ocala; William A. Morrison, Denton, TX; David P. Morrison, Ocala; daughter Betty Ann Weisberg, Port Charlotte, FL; sister Frances Rice; brothers C. Earl Morrison and Harold L. Morrison; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louise and daughter Nancy Marie.
Services for Mr. Morrison will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 24, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, with Rev. Doug Green officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time. Interment will follow with Masonic Graveside Rites at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3rd Street, Ocala.
