Herschel Claytor Obituary

CLAYTOR, HERSCHEL E. 79
High Springs - Herschel E. Claytor, 79, passed away on May 3, 2010. He was an entrepreneur in the funeral and floral industry. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Hopeful Baptist Church. He proudly served in the US Army and Air Force. Herschel was a dedicated employee of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Evans-Carter Funeral Home, Moring Funeral Home and A Direct Cremations. His presence and personality will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, and one granddaughter, Cara. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Barrett Claytor; four sons: Dale Claytor of Ocala, Mike Claytor of Clermont, FL, Mark Claytor of Harrisburg, PA and Erik Claytor of Ocala, FL; one sister, Lorene Berkes of Clearwater, FL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 210 NE Santa Fe, High Springs, FL at 3:00 PM with Pastor Lawrence Haley officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Evans-Carter Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., High Springs, FL.

I had the wonderful privilege of working with Mr. Claytor at both Evans Carter and Forest Meadows Funeral Homes and I can honestly say that I have never known a finer man than Mr. Claytor! He was such a wonderful person and I am a better person for having known him. He will truly be missed!! My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
