Lester Elton Obituary
Lester M. Elton, age 72 of Hawthorne, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2011 at his home. He was born February 7, 1939 in Orange Springs, Florida to Johnie Marion and Alma Elizabeth Hughes Elton. His father owned Orange Springs Ferry and Fish Camp in Orange Springs in the 1930s until the early 1960s. Lester grew up on the banks of Oklawaha River. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and continued with his father's well drilling business for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Finley Elton; sons, James M. Elton (Melody) and David L. Elton, both of Orange Springs; brother, Frank H. Elton; sisters, Rosemary Bewley and Margaret Woods; grandchildren, Mitchell, Nicholas, Kayla, Breanna, Mike, Morgan, Ciera, David, Tawnee, Brandy, Hailey, Melissa and Benjamin and 9 great grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Elton and Earnest Elton.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 818 CR 20A Hawthorne, with Pastor LD O'Steen officiating. Interment will follow at Orange Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1, 2011, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME HAWTHORNE, US 301 South at Lake Avenue.

Ann,
Lester was such a sweet person. He made a great banana pudding. When we had gatherings at the Maintenance Dept. he always brought the banana pudding. We had many long talks about putting up vegetables, etc. I know he will truly be missed. Praying for your strength during this sad time.

Ann and family, I am so sorry to hear of Lester's passing but praise God the hurt is gone and he is in the arms of our beloved Saviour! You are all in my prayers, though it is a time of homecoming for Lester our hearts are left empty but God can fill it if we let Him. God bless you all.
