Jacksonville - Mrs. Lori Gillum Fields, 35, died July 18, 2011. Funeral service for Mrs. Fields will be held Saturday, July 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church where she held membership, Rev. H. B. Charles, pastor. Lori's life continues to be celebrated by: her loving husband, Byron; son, Bryson; mother, Audrey Gillum and a host of loving relatives and friends. Mrs. Fields will rest in the mortuary for the visitation of friends on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in lieu of floral expressions, please make contribution to Vystar Credit Union in care of Byron Fields, Account #702885845. Interment will be in Jacksonville Memory Garden. Professional services provided by Holmes Glover Solomon Funeral Directors, Inc., 4334 Brentwood Ave., Jacksonville, FL.

Miss Lori was literally one of the best people I have ever met. My son, Jai, attended Chappell while Miss Lori was the director. She was more than a childcare director, she was a friend. I received the news of her passing while at a prenatal appt. I was looking forward to my daughter attending Chappell under her supervision. It's been 11 yrs and I still think of you often. You are missed, Miss Lori.

I am in total shock. I just happened to be at work and my co-worker was on face book and i saw the picture. I said I know her that is Lori. I said I always thought about her and wondered what happened to her. She gave me the bad news that she had passed. I remember the good times. I remember when I met her Aunt and Uncle at the Hospital when she had eye surgery @ memorial and they was so nice. She was an angel and will never be forgotten.

Lori my heart is so heavy with just learning about you leaving this earth way too soon. I can't even drive down our usual street since knowing. I guess that's the only drawback to being military. I know we lost lost touch over 11 years ago and have been looking for you but I wish this wasn't how I would have found you. You were my sister and my best friend with no contempt or judgement in your heart. God has truly gained an angel. I am truly happy to know that you are truly home...in God's arms.

I only just found out about this yesterday and am still grieving. Ms. Lori was the reason I decided to enter my son into the Chappell program at FSCJ Downtown. I looked forward to seeing her happy, cheerful face every morning when I dropped him off. I was also looking forward to having my other son attend there under Ms. Lori when he was ready for VPK. My sympathies to the family and especially little Bryson.

Ms. Lori will truly be missed, I will always remember her bright smile and soft, sweet voice. She taught me so much about patience and parenting. I truly feel as if I have lost a friend. I will always say a prayer for her husband and little boy Bryson.

Miss Lori was a kind and thoughtful person. I met her in 2008 when my granddaughter was attending Chappell (dntwn). I then started voulunteering at the shool in 2009. She would always say Miss Mildred what are you going to do when you go home today? I'd say who knows i'll find something..She would reply you know you love us and how much you want to be with us why don't you just stay and spend the day with us and I always did.. She would always thank me with that smile and a hug.. Brelyn said Miss Lori is gone to heaven to be with the Lord and thats a good place, but i'm still going to miss her..She will be truly missed by all who knew her..

I just happened upon this listing and am both shocked and deeply saddened. I'll always remember how sweet and patient Ms. Lori was at Chappell. Even when my little one made it so obvious that she didn't want to be in school, Ms. Lori had the ability to calm Tori down with her tenderness. She was a phenomenal woman who will be sorely missed. I met Lori 3 years ago at my daughter's daycare. We are both deeply saddened by this loss. What a great lady! My family and I will continue to lift her family up in prayer.

I am so sorry to hear about Ms. Lori's passing. She was a wonderful daycare provider and she had a vested intrest in making sure all of her children succeed even beyond Chapell and she also inspired the parents by being an encouragement to us in our peronal lives. One of my favorite memories was when she, her husband and Bryson came to my son Alexzandyr's birthday at Kids Kampus 2 years ago. Alex love Bryson and always called him his "Little Brother" :) I will truly miss her warm loving smile, positive attitude and encouragement. Love you very much. I've never had a long conversation with Lori, but my husband and I sat about 4 seat above her and her husband in church ( for about 6 years). I have always admired her love and passion for God and worshipping. I watched her through her pregnancy with the baby and then I watched him grow. My prayers, love, and heart goes out to Mr. Byron, Bryson, and the rest of the family. Ms. Lori was like a second mother to me when I worked for Chappell. She took me under her wings from the first day that I started working there and never let me go. I could go to her and talk to her about anything and she always had a listening ear and sound (but stern) advice. She always did what she could to help the people around her advance. Her personality was always up beat and her smile would light up a room. Ms Lori you will truly be missed. I often say that you were an angle that God sent to make the lives of those around you much better. Thanks for loving me... Thanks for loving us.. Zi will always be your FLY GIRL!!

My prayers are with the family at this time of sorrow. I met Lori 7 years ago as I was in search of a daycare for my son and she made us feel wonderful about the first center that would look after my son. She lovingly took him in and answered all my question and calmed my fears. I was blessed to have seen and hugged her this June 2011 as she introduced me to her son Byron.
