MARTIN, MARTHA E., 88
Ocala - Martha Ellen Martin, 88, passed away on Monday, May 16 at the Legacy House Hospice following a brief illness. Born on October 14, 1922, in Americus, GA, to the late Dr. Walter D. and Aurele Rachel Martin, she was also preceded in death by two brothers: Dr. Walter D. Martin Jr. and Emory B. Martin; a sister, Aldis Aurele Martin Barrett, and two nephews: John Martin Barrett and Ralph Emory Martin. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Rachel Barrett of Peoria, AZ, Walter D. Martin III of Yardley, PA, Laura Martin Hunt of Miami, FL, Richard Martin of Louisville, KY, John Martin of Jacksonville, AL, Catherine Martin of Bushnell, FL, Robert Barrett of Dallas, GA, and Martha Ellen Barrett Ansorge of Sparr, FL; 14 great-nieces and nephews and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews. Miss Martin attended Albany High School (GA) and Northwestern University. She was a dental hygienist in Miami, New Orleans, LA, Syracuse, NY, Tallahassee and Ocala. She served as president of the Florida Dental Hygienist Association in 1956. After moving to Ocala in 1971, she became a real estate broker and opened her own office in 1981. She was active in Pilot International, served on the Ocala Board of Realtors and was a charter member of Woodside Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at the Woodside Baptist Church, 2450 NE 28th Street, Ocala, Pastor Paul Daniels officiating. Interment will be in Albany, GA at a later date.
